Wales have surpassed their previous best at Euro 1976 when they lost to Yugoslavia by 1-3 in the quarterfinals.The performance of smallest nation (Iceland) at Euro 2016 has set the best example to prove that even small teams can win games on the big stage.

Even though Portugal have Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo in their team, they are still the small team in comparison to Germany, France, England etc. Portugal team made it to semi-finals in Euro 2016 but this is not the first time they reached this far in Euros. This is the fifth time they are in semi-finals of Euros. In 2006,they lost the semifinals to France and in 2012 , they lost it to Spain. But this is the best chance for Portugal and Ronaldo to win the finals of Euro after they made its finals of Euro in 2004 but lost the championship to Greece.

The performance of these small teams in Euro 2016 has given football a fresh and new idiom. These teams now have shown the possibility to nurture and develop football and young players. These small teams have cast their spell at Euro 2016 with their grand deeds and small egos.
